Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Wednesday chaired a meeting to review and oversee the relief, rescue and reconstruction work as well as arrangements of donors conference scheduled to be held in Islamabad on November 19.

Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority chairman and federal relief commissioner gave briefings about the relief and rescue work and the rebuilding and rehabilitation programme being planned by the government.

Shaukat Aziz was informed that so far 73,000 deaths have been confirmed. Tents are being made available in large quantities and by the end of November all demands will be met.

The Prime Minister said the government and World Bank are preparing damage assessments that will be put before the donor's conference. He said the government has now started to focus on the rebuilding plans, but the relief and rescue work will continue as long as it is required.

He appreciated the efforts of ERRA and FRC and said that the government was fully committed to the complete rehabilitation of quake victims.
